Rescue Work Continues in Chittagong, UN and US Express Sympathy


Rescue workers in Bangladesh are continuing their work in the aftermath of landslides and floods in the country's port city of Chittagong.


United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon expressed his deep sadness at the loss of lives, the injuries sustained by many people and the destruction caused by the landslides and floods in Chittagong.

The US Embassy in Dhaka also expressed its deep condolence to the families and friends of the victims killed or hurt in the floods and landslides in Chittagong and to those who have been rendered homeless by the disaster.

According to a US Embassy release, "USAID has authorized our partner Care to respond immediately, initially providing US$43,000 worth relief supplies."
