The chief prosecutor of the Anti-Corruption Commission, Mahbubur Rahman, stepped down on Sunday amid media reports on his reported corruption in the past.
He tendered his resignation to the commission chairman, Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury, on ‘health grounds’ less than a month inside his appointment. He was appointed chief prosecutor on June 6. He denied having quit following media reports against him and said that his resignation has no connection with these.
Earlier several newspapers brought out stories that the ACC has appointed a "corrupt person" as its chief prosecutor.
