Former French Prime Minister Michel Rocard has been discharged from a hospital in India after undergoing brain surgery.
The 76-year-old Mr. Rocard underwent the emergency procedure in Kolkata less than two weeks ago. Witnesses say he looked cheerful and relaxed on Tuesday as he walked out of the hospital.
On June 30th, Mr. Rocard suffered a brain hemorrhage in Kolkata, where he was to meet with officials of the communist government of West Bengal state.
Rocard served as France's prime minister under the Socialist president Francois Mitterand from 1988 to 1981. He is now a member of the European Parliament.
