The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has asked the two former premiers Sheikh Hasina and Khaleda Zia to submit their financial statements within seven working days.
The decision on serving the notice was taken at a meeting of the commission on Tuesday. Detained Sheikh Hasina has been served the notice through the jail authorities while the notice to Khaleda was sent to her Mainul Road residence at Dhaka Cantonment.
Meanwhile, the Awami League’s acting President Zillur Rahman said they will fight the "ludicrous and baseless" cases against Sheikh Hasina in court. He said the party is contacting senior lawyers to that end, expressing the firm hope that they will win as the charges against the former prime minister are 'false'.
