Flood Aftermath in Bangladesh: Disease & Dearth of Food


Although flood water is receding fast from many places in Bangladesh and the water level in major rivers of the country have gone down remarkably, the aftermath of flood in the shape of disease and hunger seems to dominate.

It is feared that Kurigram region of Bangladesh might face an early silent famine which is locally known as Monga. Doctors in hospitals are facing touch challenge of treating diarrhea and cholera patients.

ICDDRB, Institute of Cholera and Diarrhea Diseases is coping with an increasing number of patients. It is reported that in the history of the hospital , this is for the first time that they have got the largest number of patient.
