Bangladesh is observing the 32nd death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Wednesday.
On this day in 1975, Bangabandhu and his family members except his two daughters, were brutally killed by a splinter group of the army. Bangabandhu’s two daughters, Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana were abroad at the time.
President Iajuddin Ahmed and Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed placed floral wreaths at Bangabandhu’s grave in Tungipara in the morning. This is the first time the head of state and head of government paid their respect at Bangabandhu’s gravesite .
Awami League senior leaders placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi Road No 32 in Dhaka and at Banani cemetary. Awami League is observing the day on a limited scale.
