Masum Chowdhury is a retired career diplomat from Bangladesh . He served as Bangladesh High Commisioner in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

He says that Bangladesh came into being as an independent country as a part of a historical necessity . He recalls how the then Pakistanis discriminated against the Bengalis.
