The Anti-Corruption Commission in Bangladesh on Sunday sued the two detained former prime ministers – Sheikh Hasina and Khaleda Zia – for alleged corruption in signing contracts with Canadian oil company Niko Resources that caused Tk 23,630.50 crore loss to the state exchequer.
Three former ministers, five retired bureaucrats and a Niko official were also accused.
Charges brought against Hasina and six others are non-bailable and involve imprisonment for five to 10 years under various sections.
Khleda and four others also face non-bailable charges punishable by seven-year jail term.
