West Bengal Government Seeks Central Support in Combating Aftermath of Bird Flu


The government of the Indian state of West Bengal has asked the central government to waive the loans of the farmers in West Bengal who have been affected by Bird Flu.

In Delhi , while speaking to reporters, the Finance Minister of West Bengal Asim Dasgupta said that the Chief Minister of West Bengal Buddhadev Bhattacharjee has already sent a letter to the Agricultural Minister Sharad Power.

Mr Dasgupta also said that a decision has been taken to provide farmers living below poverty level with young chickens free of cost. News Agency PTI says that the West Bengal government is seeking for a rehabilitation fund for the owners of those poultry farms which have been affected by Bird Flu.
