Bangladesh on Saturday strongly condemned the republication of the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad of Islam in some Danish newspapers and said it can provoke resentment that could only be destabilising.
A spokesman of the foreign ministry in a statement said, ‘We deeply regret the republication of the Danish cartoons. We condemn it.’
The official said that they fail to understand how hurting the sentiments of a billion Muslims can advance the cause of freedom of expression. The spokesman of the ministry observed the reprinting the cartoons can only spur resentment that can have destabilizing impact.
