Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Fell Sick in the Court

The detained former prime minister Sheikh Hasina filed a petition with a special court seeking her discharge from the barge-mounted power plant case as the hearing in the framing of charges in the case began on Thursday after a long break.

Sixty-five minutes inside the hearing, Hasina, also the Awami League president, felt sick in the dock at about 11.45am, and M Firoz Alam, the judge of the special judge’s court 1 on the Jatiya Sangsad complex, adjourned the hearing till Monday.

Hasina’s counsel Shafique Ahmed filed the petition and began to make his arguments at 10.40am, when the court ordered the defence counsels to do so coming down heavily on them for seeking further deferment of the hearing on the ground of Hasina’s illness.
If a person accused is produced in court, the illness of the accused cannot

be a ground for deferment in the hearing in charge framing, the court said
