Pakistan, Indian Foreign Ministers Try to Defuse Tensions

The foreign ministers of India and Pakistan met on Thursday on the sidelines of a South Asian regional summit, as increased border tensions further strain the peace process between the neighboring nations.

After the closed-door talks in Sri Lanka's capital, Colombo, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi told reporters that he walked out of the meeting with a smile.

He added, in his own words, that "a lot of steam has been let out of the pressure cooker." The bilateral talks come after an increase in reported ceasefire violations along the de facto border dividing the disputed Kashmir region.
