Indian President Pratibha Patil arrived
in Kolkata on Saturday on a two day visit to West Bengal, her maiden visit to the state after
assuming the post.
The President, who arrived in a special IAF plane, was received at the NSC Bose International Airport by Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi and
Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee.
Patil, who was presented a Guard of Honor at the airport, left for Rajbhavan
immediately thereafter.
The President later inaugurated the silver jubilee celebrations of the
Bi-Centennial of the Asiatic Society here on Saturday. President Patil urged to
distribute the results of developments in all spheres of Society.
