Renowned actress Madhabi Mukherjee remembers Uttam Kumar, arguably the biggest legend in Bangla film so far.
Madhabi did several films with Uttam Kumar and knew him well. She describes Uttam not only as an acting genius but also as a very humble, loving and generous person in real life.
Uttam Kumar did more than 250 films. He was the first ever recipient of the Best Actor Award in India for his performances in Chiriakhana and Antony Firingi (1967).
Madhabi believes Uttam was an outstanding character actor but many directors failed to recognize that and used him more as a romantic hero.
