Bangadesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in a major policy decision announced on Tuesday that it will register with the Election Commission (EC) and take part in the upcoming elections according to the new electoral provisions.
The latest development in the BNP, that lead the four-party alliance, would break the impasse over registration with the EC before the parliamentary polls slated for December 18.
Awami League (AL) and Jatiya Party (JP) earlier said that they will apply to the commission for registration after Eid-ul-Fitr by amending their party constitutions.
A four-member delegation of the party, led by its Vice-president MK Anwar, said this after a two-hour meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) ATM Shamsul Huda and two election commissioners at the EC Secretariat.
