Rice Urges Pakistan to Cooperate in Mumbai Probe

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says Pakistan bears a "special responsibility" to help the investigation into last week's deadly terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

Rice said while all responsible nations must cooperate with the investigation, the Islamabad government should act with "urgency and resolve."

She said the United States has a special interest in this probe because U.S. citizens are among the more than 170 dead.

India's external affairs minister, Pranab Mukherjee, spoke alongside Rice at a joint news conference in New Delhi on Wednesday. Mukherjee said he has no doubt the attackers came from Pakistan, and he stressed that India will use all its means to protect its citizens and territory.Islamabad says its state agencies were not involved in the attacks.
