This second North America Tagore conference was aimed at unifying the Bengali Diaspora in Tagore’s spirit through his multi dimensional creative works.
The Bengali Diaspora at times misses Tagore and a nostalgic thought of feeling this romantic poet within and without often comes to mind while living abroad. But more importantly this conference also aimed at the younger generation Bengalis in North America to recognize and indeed to realize this genius who has now reached beyond the temporal or the spatial bondage.
The Convener of the Conference Jahanara Khan Bina narrates the reason for holding this conference. She says that Bengalis who live abroad miss their own Bengali culture and hence this conference has been organized to bring Bengalis closer to their cultural heritage . Besides they also want to introduce this great genius of early twentieth century to the new generation as well as to the west.
