Bangladesh Election Commission has filed a case against Abdul Latif Biswas, Minister for Fisheries and Livestock. The Election Commission has also filed case against his daughter and several Awami League leaders for violating the electoral code of conduct in January 22 upazila polls.
According to the electoral rules, the Awami League Minister and the other accused face up to seven years in prison and fine if convicted of the offence.
The court ordered a judicial probe into the matter and directed the authorities concerned to produce witnesses before it on February 16, 19 and 22.
