Joya Ahmad Attends Inauguration, Answers President’s Call to Service


Joya Ahmad is a 10th grader at Philadelphia's William Penn Charter school, the oldest Quaker school in United States.

Joya has been quite active in Barack Obama’s campaign. Two weeks ago she came to Washington DC to attend the inauguration.

In an interview with VOA Bangla Service, Joya spoke about her experience during the inauguration, the friendship and excitement she witnessed and what she plans to do about President's call to service.

Joya regularly participates in community services and political activities. She has been influenced by her parents, Dr. Nina Ahmad and Mr. Ahsan Nasratullah, who are also active in the main stream politics and community services.

Joya plans to go to Bangladesh in the future and work as a volunteer in a non-profit organization.
