A two-member team of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States arrived in Dhaka Sunday afternoon to help inquire into the massacre at the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) Headquarters in capital.
US Ambassador to Bangladesh James F Moriarty confirmed their arrival, agencies report quoting local private television channels. The FBI investigators came from the Indian capital of New Delhi.
Earlier on Sunday morning, Foreign Minister
Dipu Moni at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel said the government sought technical
assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Scotland Yard for
investigation into the February 25-26 Pilkhana killings. She said the FBI team
will do some work first. Then the rest of the team will arrive. The government
had talks about the Scotland Yard too. Scotland Yard will send its members
soon, the Foreign Minister hoped.
She said the investigation committees would determine the scale of work of FBI
and Scotland Yard.
