Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir Defends Hearings for the ACC

Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir is the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Undertaking in Bangladesh . This committee recently summoned the officials of the Anti Corruption Commission in Bangladesh to answer some of the questions of the parliamentary committee. The ACC officials refused to appear before the committee saying that they were autonomous body and were only accountable to the President of the Republic.

Dr Alamgir , who is a former bureaucrat and a former state minister for planning , in this exclusive interview argues in favor of summoning the anti-corruption officials. He says all government organizations are accountable to people’s body. He says that the autonomy of the ACC was granted through parliamentary law and in no way frees itself from accountability.
