Parliamentary Probe Committee to
Investigate Corruption Charges against former speaker Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar
yesterday decided to summon Sircar, his former deputy Akhter Hamid Siddiqui and
former chief whip Khondoker Delwar Hossain to attend the next meeting of the
committee on June 27 to defend themselves against corruption charges.
The decision was taken at a
meeting of the Probe Committee held at Sangsad Bhaban with its Chairman
Advocate Fazle Rabbi in the chair.
As per the decision, the former
speaker, deputy speaker and the chief whip will be asked to appear before the
committee separately. According to the schedule, Jamiruddin Sircar will be
asked to appear the committee at 10:00am, Akhter Hamid Siddiqui at 12:00noon
and Khondoker Delwar Hossain at 3:00pm on the day.The committee is expected to
issue formal letters to the former speaker, the deputy speaker and the chief
whip on Sunday.
