BSF and BDR Discuss Border Killings in a Three Day Conference


Bangladesh and India started talks in a border conference at the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) headquarters on Sunday.

After the recent shooting of four Bangladeshis by Indian Border Security Force (BSF), the conference will address the issues of killings and torture of Bangladeshis by BSF at the Bangladesh-India border.

A senior BDR official has said that Bangladesh will request India to prevent these killings and firings.

So far, 50 Bangladeshis have been killed by the BSF just in the last six months.

The Indian delegation of 18 officials and a Bangladeshi delegation of 22 members will discuss on how to strengthen border patrols and to further prevent border smuggling.

Additionally, issues of pushing Bangla-speaking Indians into Bangladesh, and the building of roads, fences by India in close proximity of the border Bangladesh will be discussed at length.

Human trafficking and and trans-border crimes are affecting the relationship between India and Bangladesh and this conference aims to take measures to prevent them.
