Saba Jemin Chowdhury attends the University of Texas at Dallas where she is majoring in Neuroscience. She chose this subject because she feels much work needs to be done in understanding mental disorders. Ms. Chowdhury feels that brain is an amazing organ and wants to contribute towards the research in this field.
In an exclusive
interview with VOA Bangla Service, Saba also talks about her intense
interests in cultural activities.
When Saba was six years old, she watched an orchestra concert and became interested in the violin. Later on, her parents bought her a violin and she has been playing the violin on and off since. She also likes to sing Bengali patriotic, Hindi film and European classical songs.
Saba's other passion is making clay sculptures and weaving baskets. She also likes to write poems and short stories. She won several prizes for her extra-curricular and cultural activities including her awards in the International Mother Language Day Essay Competition in 2007.
