Dr. Tapan Raychaudhuri is a Professor Emeritus of Indian History and
Civilization at St. Anthony’s College, Oxford. He is the author of six
books, including /The Cambridge Economic History of India/, which was
awarded the Watumull Prized by the American Historical Association.
Over his long and illustrious academic career, Dr. Raychaudhuri has
taught at universities in India, the United States, the United Kingdom,
France, Australia, and Germany.
Dr. Raychaudhuri was awarded the Padmabhushan by the Indian government
in 2007 for his contributions to the study of history, adding to his
other numerous academic awards.
Rabeya Khatun is a prominent Bangladeshi novelist and one of the most
respected writers in Bangladesh today.
One of the country’s most prolific writers, Mrs. Khatun not only writes
novels, but has also authoried short stories, anthologies, and several
memoirs.
She is the recipient of the Bangla Academy Award in 1973, the Bangladesh
Lekhika Sangha Award, and the Uro Shishu Shahitya Award in 2003. Mrs.
Khatun is also one of the very few people to be awarded the Ekushey
Podok award.
