Bodhipriya Larma, also known as Shantu Larma, on Wednesday alleged that the
government’s decision on a partial troops pull-out from the Chittagong Hill
Tracts was not in conformity with the CHT peace agreement as, he said, the army
still ruled the three hill districts.
Larma asked the
government to declare a time-bound roadmap for full implementation of the
Chittagong Hill Tracts peace accord signed between the Awami League
government and Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity in December 1997.
The guerrilla
leader-turned-politician made the demand while addressing newsmen at the
National Press Club on the occasion of International Indigenous Day to be
observed on August 9.
The government on 29 July, 2009 decided to withdraw a full army brigade comprising three infantry battalions and also 35 security camps from Chittagong Hill Tracts.
