The internet and telecommunications across Bangladesh remained disconnected for nearly 15 hours on Friday. The optical fiber line at Patiya was disconnected in the early hours which resulted in the disruption.
The connection was restored later in the day.
The fiber optical line was cut off after being exposed to water and getting damaged at a point near Saleh Noor College in Patiya upazila where it runs beneath a bridge over a canal.
This caused the country's internet and telecommunications to collapse.
Matiur Rahman Chowdhury has the details.
