A Harvard Conference on Bangladesh in 21st Century was held recently where a huge number of Bengali intellectuals both from Bangladesh and amongst Bangladeshi Diaspora here participated on different issues ranging from Water Managementto Good Governance.
Bangladesh Development Initiative (BDI), a USA-based non-profit organization, in collaboration with Democracy and Development in Bangladesh Forum (DDBF), Boston, Massachusetts and The Ash Institute for Democratic Governance & Innovation, John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, organized a two-day conference to examine the economic, political and social issues facing Bangladesh in the 21st century. The conference was held on October 10 and 11 2009 at Harvard University.
The Chairman of DDBF Dr Kazi Farhad Jalal in an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla briefly described the proceedings of the conference. He said nearly 200 scholars, specialists, Bangladesh government officials, diplomats and noted journalists participated at various sessions of the conference . In their deliberations, they identified problems in Bangladesh development and recommended measures to boost development efforts to meet the challenges of the forthcoming century.
