U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is urging Europeans to bring
down what she says are the 21st century walls of terrorism and
oppression.
Clinton spoke at a dinner Sunday in Berlin, where she is part of the
official U.S. observance of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the
Berlin Wall.
The secretary called on America's NATO allies to show the same resolve
and idealism that won the Cold War to flight today's problems -
extremism, nuclear proliferation and global warming.
She said citizens everywhere deserve the chance to pursue their dreams and live up to their potential.
Along with marking the Berlin Wall anniversary, Clinton also plans to
meet Monday with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on such topics as
Iran, North Korea and Afghanistan.
