Supriya Devi has been an outstanding Bengali actress from the very beginning of her acting career. She was born in Burma and spent a few years there before settling down in Kolkata. Her first film was Maan Dondo in 1950. Renowned actor Uttam Kumar was her co actor for the first time in a film called Basu Paribar. Later they were romantically involved and lived together until Uttam's death. Supriya belives Uttam was the most dedicated actor of his time.
