Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Focuses on Clean Water for a Healthy World & Other Issues


Mijarul Quayes, the foreign secretary of Bangladesh recently participated in UN organized panel discussions on World Water for Healthy Life on the occasion of World Water Day. He was a panelist on Water and MDG ( Milleneum Development Goal) .

He says that in MDG 7 the issues of Water Development and Management have been clearly mentioned. He says that there is no denying the fact that the issue of clean safe water is involved with the development of a country as whole and also related to eliminating gender discriminations.

Just before attending as a panelist, he also visited along with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh to China and India. Mijarul Quayes says in this interview that co-incidentally water issues were the priorities in the agenda for discussions during these official visits. He says just prior to attending the discussions at UN, he attended the Joint River Commission’s meeting at Delhi on water distribution from common rivers. In his China visit, they discussed on water Management of the Brahamaputra River Basin.

Apart from the Water issue Mijarul Quayes also discusses the War Crime Trial (1971) and Bangladesh’s success in establishing a friendly relationship with India and China.
