Police Withdraws from Drik Gallery

On Tuesday, police withdrew from the Drik Gallery in Dhanmondi after the High Court started hearings regarding the complaint by Drik challenging the closure of the exhibition “crossfire”. This took place eight days after the police closed the exhibition on the 22nd of March.

Shahidul Alam, Drik’s managing director said that they are now opening the exhibition on the 14th of April due to public demand. The exhibition contained a collection of images that focus on the “crossfire” deaths that involved Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and other law enforcers, causing the police to shut it down before it opened.

Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, VOA correspondent in Dhaka, has more on the writ against the government submitted by Drik Gallery.
