Water Crisis Deepens and Spreads in Dhaka

Water crisis is deepening and spreading to more and more areas of the Dhaka city.

Desperate residents are taking to the streets or organizing indoor meetings seeking immediate solution to their problems.

WASA officials blamed frequent load shedding for their inability to operate water pumps. WASA currently supplies 1.90 billion litres of water a day against the demand for 2.20 billion, leaving a major part of the city without the most basic need.

Traffic came to a halt on Dhaka’s Mohakhali-Gulshan link road on Sunday morning when locals blocked the road demanding uninterrupted water supply.

Amir Khasru has more on the story.
