AL Candidate Wins Bhola By-election

Bangladesh Election Commission has declared ruling Awami League candidate Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shawon the official winner of the by-election in Bhola-3 constituency.

Opposition BNP Sunday announced countrywide protest rallies on April 28 against what it termed as 'unprecedented vote rigging' and rejected the election results.

In an interview with Voice of America, Brigadier General (Retd) Sakhawat Hossain of Bangladesh Election Commission commented on violence and voter intimidation during Saturday's by-polls.
