On Monday, the cabinet amended the Anti-Corruption Commission Act of 2004 with a new provision of punishment for false complaint of corruption. The cabinet agreed in principle to punish such complaints with up to five years in prison as well as fines.
Abul Kalam Azad, Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, said the ACC will now be able to utilize officials of any government agency in order to carry out proper investigation. The cabinet also amended the draft of Bangladesh Environment Preservation Act 2010.
