Foreign Minister of Bangladesh M Morshed Khan , while commenting on recent relationship between India and Bangladesh said , " While we are concerned , we are not worried or irritated ." He said that Bangladesh is very transparent and there is no scope for being emotional or sentimental while evaluating the relationship. He said , " We share the history of the region and therefore we have to find our way out for solving all our issues."

In an exclusive interview with VOA , Mr Khan ruled out any possibilties of mediation by a third party. It may be mentioned here that the US Ambassador in Bangladesh Mary Ann Peters met the foreign minister a couple of days ago and amonst other things they discussed on Indo- Bangladesh relationship.

Foreign Minister Khan said the reason for the recent strained relationship between Bangladesh and India is not very clear. However , he said that some people believe that this is being determined by the internal politics of India and India might be using it as a convenient strategy. The other reason , he said , could be the recent reduction in smuggling goods to India.. Asked if the proposal for the Asian Highway from Thailand to Bangladesh via Burma was an issue, the minister did not rule that out and said that India may be worried about the possibilities of Thai goods finding a market in Bangladesh.
