A professor of History in Dhaka University has expressed his deep concerns at the arrest of his colleague and a scholar Professor Muntasir Mamun who was taken into police custody following the bomb explosion in Mymensingh, a city about 130 kilometers north of Dhaka.
In an exclusive interview with VOA , Professor Syed Anwar Hussain , who is a former Director General of Bangla Academy , said that although no one is above law , its the way law is exercised is subject to criticism. He also mentioned that so far the Detective Branch have reportedly failed to make any creedible charges against Muntasir Mamun . He said that this arrests and harrasment could be politically motivated and warned that such actions could be detrimental to democracy.
