Fuel cost rises by 13.75 percent in Bangladesh - 2003-01-05


The government has raised fuel oil prices and the new rates are effective from today. Announcing an overall 13.75 per cent rise, State Minister for Energy A K M Mosharraf Hossain told newsmen on Sunday that the aim of the new move is to reduce enormous fiscal losses and stop smuggling. He briefed the reporters on the issue after Prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia approved the new oil price rates. Under the new price schedule, price of Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)is Taka 335.
