Bangladesh and US have signed a scientific and technological cooperation agreement on Saturday in Dhaka .The agreement was signed by the US Assistant Secretary of State Christina Rocca , who arrived in Dhaka on Saturday , and by Science and Information and Communication Technology Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan. It may be mentioned here that Bangladesh is the first country with which US has signed an accord of this nature.
In a press conference , after the signing in , the US Assistant Secretary of State said that this agreement has laid down the legal sructure for co-operation between government and private organisations of both countries pursuing scientific and technological research and development. Ms Rocca said that US recognises the support of Bangladesh against terrorism in order to reach a common goal. She met with the Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh Mr Shamsher Mubin Chowdhury. Christina Rocca also met the Leader of the Opposition and Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the Jatiya Sangshad. She is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and Foreign Minister Morshed Khan on Sunday.
