Bangladesh Elected UNGA  Vice President - 2004-06-11


Dr.Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations General Assembly was elected Vice-President of the 59th United Nations General Assembly. He will assume office in September this year when the next session of the General Assembly begins. Following his election Ambassador Chowdhury said – “It is a clear acknowledgement of the important role that Bangladesh is playing in the UN and endorsement of our foreign policy”. Foreign Minister of Gabon Jean Ping was elected President of the General Assembly
