A health ministry official reported at least four Iraqis were killed and more than 20 injured in the street fighting, which erupted in central Baghdad.
Earlier, in another Baghdad neighborhood, police said at least six people were wounded when insurgents fired mortar rounds at targets including a house belonging to Iraqi interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi and the headquarters of his political party.
And Egyptian officials are looking into a report that an Egyptian truck driver has been kidnapped in Iraq.
