Pakistani PM to Press Ahead Peace Process With India - 2004-10-31


Pakistan's prime minister says he will meet his Indian counterpart in New Delhi in the coming weeks to press ahead with the peace process between the South Asian neighbors.

Shaukat Aziz says Pakistan hopes to resolve outstanding issues peacefully with India. He meets with Manmohan Singh in three weeks as part of India and Pakistan's ongoing talks to resolve several issues, including the Kashmir dispute.

Also Sunday, the Greater Kashmir newspaper reported that Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf held talks earlier this month with a top separatist leader from Indian Kashmir

The paper quotes the chief of the moderate faction of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, as saying the meeting was a chance encounter in Amsterdam.
