US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian Affairs, Torkel Patterson is in Dhaka for a 5 day visit. He met with Foreign Secretary Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury. He told the press, after the meeting, that the Bush administration would like to strenghthen relationship with Bangladesh. He said US wants to see Bangladsh reduce level of corruption and make progress in the investigation of recent criminal offences. Mr. Patterson will also visit Chittagong.
