India's 15th Lok Sabha, or Parliament election, produced unexpected results. The election not only brought back the Congress Party-led UPA government to power for the second term, it delivered a severe blow to the power of the left parties, especially the CPM Party that was in power in three Indian states - West Bengal, Kerala, and Tripura. The CPM party-led Left Front Coalition government has been ruling the state of West Bengal for more than three decades.
The result of the Lok Sabha election has a great impact on the politics of West Bengal and there is a strong belief that a serious change is coming to the state after three decades.
