Topic: Myanmar's COVID-19 outbreak hits amidst the coup crisis.
Translation Summary: Mohammad Kamal told VOA Rohingya Lifeline that the coronavirus is rapidly spreading in crisis-hit Myanmar, with the country recording another record number of daily COVID-19 cases due to the lack of proper healthcare by the Junta government. The healthcare system has been completely broken due to the civil disobedience movement and there are no doctors or nurses in the hospital. As a result, the number of deaths is increasing every day. According to health workers in Myanmar, COVID-19 kills more than 1,000 patients every day and infects more than 5,000. But the military junta is trying to hide the death toll in the media. According to private charities working to help cremate the bodies of the dead for funerals, there are large numbers of dead bodies in any cemetery.
The Minister of Health of the NUG government, Dr. Zaw Wai Soe predicts that if the international community does not come to the aid of the people of Myanmar, 300,000 to 400,000 people will die in the next few months due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in Myanmar. Many Muslims have recently died in Rangoon due to the coronavirus. Muslims in Rangoon is celebrating the Eid al-Adha festival in a very sad situation this year and many of them do not like to sacrifice (Qurbani) the animal due to the COVID-19 crisis-hit. We have noticed that many people prefer to pray at home but very few people prefer to go to the mosque while maintaining social distancing and wearing masks.
