Iran Sets New Conditions on Nuclear Freeze

Iran says it will extend its suspension of uranium enrichment until the end of next month, to give European negotiators time to prepare a proposal for a new round of talks aimed at resolving an ongoing nuclear dispute. The Iranian news agency quotes a government spokesman ,Ali Agha Mohammadi, as saying European envoys should be ready to offer detailed incentives to Tehran in exchange for its extending a ban on nuclear enrichment activities. The United Nations and the European Union want Iran to abandon its nuclear program in exchange for economic aid. But six months of talks have failed to yield an agreement. The United States accuses Iran of using its nuclear program as a cover for developing nuclear weapons, a charge Tehran has repeatedly denied.
