Bangladesh  to Appoint Tax Ombudsman

The cabinet yesterday approved the finance ministry proposal for the appointment of a tax ombudsman who will deal with the taxpayers' complaints in the payment of tax. According to the draft bill, the president will appoint the tax ombudsman for a four-year term. He or she will head a separate office with necessary staff. The ombudsman can deal with NBR related taxes including VAT, import duty and income tax. Matiur Rahman Choudhury has more on the story.
