Pranab Mukherjee, Defense Minister of India said that the allegations by the Director General of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) were baseless and unfounded. Mr Mukherjee , during a visit to Bahrampur , in the Indian state of West Bengal was commenting on a recent remark by BDR chief where he alleged that some Indian militant organizations could be involved in a series of bomb blasts on August 17.
