Dr Momen Proposes Changes in the Administration & Management in Bangladesh

Dr Abdul Momen is a teacher in Economics & Business Management at Fremingham State College in Boston, Massachusettes. He has been teaching in the USA over a couple of decades now and in addition to his teaching profession, Dr Momen is the President of a humanitarian organization called, Women & Children International.

In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla , Dr Momen focuses on his proposal which ,he says, is widely applicable to different sectors in Bangladesh. Professor Momen spoke on his pet subject; the District Governor System (DGS), a technology-based administrative and constitutional structure that he believe could help accelerated growth of Bangladesh by fully utilizing the creativity, drive and initiative of its main resource, the vast manpower .

His DGS proposes to devolve administrative responsibilities to local governments with full transparency. Such system, he believes, while reducing corruption, red tape and misuse of resources will help improve project implementation, quality of service, law and order situation and better governance. Such system will direct nation's attention from politics of tall talks to politics of competiveness and performance effeciency.

While preparing his proposal, Dr Momen has taken into consideration the problem of good governance , corruption , lack of accountability , waste of time in taking up or implementing projects. Dr Momen has also focused on the optimum utilization of human and water resources in Bangladesh.
