Awami League and BNP leaders have welcomed a statement by the army chief, Moeen U Ahmed, which says that the army have no intention of getting involved in politics.
Awami League General Secretary Abdul Jalil says Moeen U Ahmed’s comment reflects faith in democracy.
BNP Secretary General Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan says the patriotic defense forces have saved the country from a possible conflict by cooperating with the caretaker government.
The defense forces will continue to perform the duties expected of them, he adds.
